Terms of service
Last updated 2 September 2026
1. Agreement
SetWright is operated by TLC Tech, LLC, 215 North Pine Street #3102, Charlotte, North Carolina 28202 ("we", "us"). You agree to these terms when you accept an invitation to join an ensemble, and by continuing to use SetWright after that. If you do not agree, do not use it. We record the date you agreed and which version of this page you agreed to.
Two parties agree, and both are bound. Your ensemble is the group whose repertoire, roster and events are kept in SetWright. A director who sets an ensemble up, or accepts an invitation to direct one, agrees to these terms on that ensemble's behalf and confirms they are authorised to do so. Everyone who signs in, director or member, also agrees personally. "You" below means you as an individual; obligations placed on the ensemble are named as such.
Our privacy policy is part of these terms.
2. What SetWright does
SetWright drafts vocal set lists. It keeps track of who is available, who covers each part, what is performance ready and what fits the night, and it proposes a set the director edits. The artistic decision stays with the director.
SetWright is currently offered by invitation only and is not open to the public. There is no charge for it.
3. Who may use SetWright
You must be at least 16 to hold a SetWright account. You confirm that when you accept an invitation, in the same tick box as these terms.
A director may list a singer under 16 on a roster as an entry in the ensemble's own records, without inviting them to sign in. Where they do, the ensemble is responsible for having whatever permission the law of its own jurisdiction requires before recording a child's details, and for keeping those details to what the ensemble's work actually needs.
4. Accounts
An account is created by invitation from a director of your ensemble, or by us. You are responsible for your sign-in credentials and for what is done with your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has access to it.
Give accurate information. A member profile that names somebody other than the person signed in makes the ensemble's records wrong for everyone reading them.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use SetWright to:
- break the law, or store material whose possession or sharing is unlawful;
- record information about a person that your ensemble has no reason to hold, or that they have asked you not to keep;
- harass, threaten or demean anyone, in a note, an event name or anywhere else text can be entered;
- enter text you do not have the right to reproduce, including lyrics and other copyrighted material, into a note or any other field;
- scrape, crawl or automate access beyond ordinary use of the app;
- work around rate limits, quotas or access controls, or try to reach another ensemble's data;
- probe, reverse engineer or interfere with the service or the systems it runs on.
We may investigate suspected misuse, suspend or close an account, and where the conduct warrants it take legal action.
6. Your content, and other people's
Your ensemble keeps ownership of what it puts into SetWright: its repertoire, its roster, its events and its notes. You grant us the permission we need to store and process that content in order to run the service for you, and for nothing else.
Most of what a director enters is information about other people. Names, email addresses, vocal ranges, availability and attendance all describe somebody. The ensemble is responsible for having a proper basis to record it, for keeping it accurate, and for removing it when it is no longer needed. SetWright provides the tools for that: a member can be deactivated, a person's record can be erased, and an ensemble can ask for everything it holds to be deleted.
We do not sell your content, and we do not use it to build products for anyone else.
7. What SetWright produces
A drafted set list is a proposal. SetWright decides it by applying stated rules to the data your ensemble has entered: who is available, who is cast, what is ready, and how long the night is. It does not use artificial intelligence, and it does not invent anything that is not in your data.
That makes its output only as good as its input. A roster that is out of date, a casting that was never recorded or a readiness flag nobody has updated will produce a set that looks confident and is wrong. Check a draft before you perform from it. The director makes the call, and SetWright is a record and a proposal rather than a substitute for that judgment.
Your ensemble owns the set lists it produces and may use them however it likes.
8. Services we rely on
Running SetWright means using other companies, and your data passes through them:
- Supabase, which stores the database and handles sign-in;
- Vercel, which hosts the application, measures how quickly its pages load, and counts page views;
- Resend, which delivers invitations and other email;
- Sentry, which records errors so we can fix them, and times requests so we can find what is slow.
Our privacy policy says what each one receives. If we add another, we will name it there.
9. No service level
SetWright is provided free and on a best-effort basis. We do not promise that it will be available at any particular time, that a feature will keep working the way it does today, or that it will keep existing. We may change, suspend or withdraw features without notice.
Plan for that. A gig does not wait for a service to come back, so print or export what you need before the night.
10. Our intellectual property
The SetWright name, the software, the interface and the documentation are ours. These terms give you permission to use the service, not to copy, modify, resell or redistribute it. Your ensemble's own content is excluded from this and stays yours under section 6.
11. Ending it
You may stop using SetWright at any time, and you may ask for your personal record to be erased. A director may ask for the whole ensemble to be deleted. Both requests run on a delay, so that a change of mind or a mistake can be undone before anything is destroyed; the app states the window when you make the request.
What a director can do to your record, which is worth knowing before it happens. A director can remove a member, and can schedule deletion of the whole ensemble. Deleting the ensemble removes every member's record in it, and deletes the SetWright login of anyone whose only ensemble it was. Members cannot call it off; only a director of that ensemble can, and only within the window. Members are emailed when it is scheduled and again if it is called off, unless the director turns that off. If you want to keep a copy of anything, export your own record from your profile, or ask your director to export the group's.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches section 5. We may also stop offering SetWright altogether, and if we do that as a planned decision rather than because we have been forced to, we will give at least 30 days' notice and keep the ensemble-wide export working for that whole period, so a group can take its data with it. Section 9 is about features and availability day to day; this is about the service ending, and the two are not the same promise.
Sections 12, 13, 14 and 15 survive the end of this agreement.
12. No warranties
SetWright is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error free or secure, or that a drafted set list will be suitable for any particular performance.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost performances or lost opportunities. Our total liability arising out of or relating to SetWright is limited to one hundred United States dollars.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities. Where that is so, our liability is limited to the greatest extent that jurisdiction permits, and the limits above may not apply to you.
14. Indemnity
Your ensemble, and the director who agreed to these terms on its behalf, will indemnify us against claims, damages, liabilities and reasonable legal costs arising from content entered into SetWright, from use of what it produces, from a breach of these terms, or from a breach of someone else's rights or of the law.
A member who is not a director is responsible only for content they entered themselves. You do not take on the consequences of what somebody else recorded about you, which is most of what a roster holds.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts sitting in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, and both parties consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
16. Changes
We may update these terms. When we do, the date at the top of this page changes, and continuing to use SetWright after that means you accept the revised terms. If a change is significant we will make a point of telling you rather than relying on this page alone.
17. Contact
Questions about these terms, about personal data, or a complaint that something in SetWright infringes your copyright, all go to privacy@setwright.app. SetWright stores no files, so a copyright complaint here is about text somebody typed into a field. Tell us what the work is, which ensemble and which field the text is in, and how to reach you. We aim to answer within five working days.
